SCRIP Donates $20,000

Nicole Gibson (Scrip Volunteer) presents John Jacob (Bethel School Principal) with a check in the amount of $20,000.  This donation is profit from the SCRIP program for the 2009 calendar year.   These funds will help support the school and provide for needed equipment and supplies.  Bethel benefits from your purchases in that a portion of the purchase goes to Bethel as a fund raiser; and more importantly you may designate that 50% of the SCRIP profit be used towards your tuition, school, or Bethel Lutheran Church.

Thank you for supporting this important program and thank you to all of the volunteers and the hours they put in to ensure the success.  If you use the SCRIP program you know the benefits and simplicity the program offers.  The Bethel Scrip program stocks SCRIP / Gift Cards from 50 local and national retailers, restaurants, grocery stores, and  gas stations; in addition 1000’s of additional SCRIP / Gift Cards may be ordered for delivery generally within 72 hours.  If you have not used the SCRIP Program, please consider how you and Bethel may benefit from your participation.  For additional information please click on the following link.  http://www.bethellutheranschool.org/scrip.htm

Welcome to Bethel Lutheran School, Morton, IL

......with Christ himself as our chief cornerstone. Eph. 2:20

Our Mission

We, as believers and disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His Body here at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, in response to His Commission to make disciples of all peoples and in awareness of our unique, collective gifts, clearly see the mission before us to worship – to grow – to serve.

Bethel Lutheran School offers a Christian Education for the whole child.  Students in the school find identity, purpose, and power for their lives by living in God’s grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  The education is well rounded and provides spiritual instruction, intellectual achievement, social interaction, emotional development, physical education, and aesthetic experiences.

Message from the Principal - January 2010

The new year has started off with a bang!

Several of our students participated in the Lutheran High School Elementary Spelling Bee held January 9th at Lutheran High in Springfield.

Our participants were:

Mason Greiner (3rd Grade), Danny Bailey (3rd Grade), Bryan Himmel (4th Grade)

Ashley Mohr (4th Grade)

Kyra Postlewaite (5th Grade)

Jennifer Ackley (5th Grade)

Natalie Schisler (6th Grade), Zack Siscoe (6th Grade), Nikki Blunier (7th Grade)

We fared quite well in receiving the following awards:

3rd Grade – Tie for 2nd Place; 4th Grade – 1st Place; 5th Grade – Tie for 1st Place, 6th Grade – Tie for 2nd Place; 7th Grade – 4th Place.

Congratulations to our participants for representing our school well!

Also, we just completed our annual fund drive and have great news.  Our Scrip program has generated $20,000 worth of income over the past year.  This means that anything raised through other donations will be put toward debt reduction of the school debt.  At last count this was approximately $10,000!  Thank you for your generosity and for your continued use of the Scrip program!

We are in full swing of registration and are looking forward to another strong year coming up.  We do, however, have some openings. So if you are interested, or know anyone that’s interested in checking out our school, please have them contact us and we will be happy to give a tour.

Looking ahead, a great time to come visit us is February 7th at our annual Pancake Breakfast and Open House.  This is always a time of great fellowship and a wonderful opportunity to meet our staff.  We look forward to seeing you!

John R. Jacob
