Welcome to Bethel Lutheran School, Morton, IL

......with Christ himself as our chief cornerstone. Eph. 2:20

Our Mission

We, as believers and disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His Body here at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, in response to His Commission to make disciples of all peoples and in awareness of our unique, collective gifts, clearly see the mission before us to worship – to grow – to serve.

Bethel Lutheran School offers a Christian Education for the whole child.  Students in the school find identity, purpose, and power for their lives by living in God’s grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  The education is well rounded and provides spiritual instruction, intellectual achievement, social interaction, emotional development, physical education, and aesthetic experiences.

Message from the Principal - July 2010

While many of you are aware of the service projects the 8th graders were doing this year, I haven’t given space in my articles to go into detail on them.  All 8th graders completed their Making a Difference Projects.  I want to take this opportunity to highlight the projects:

  • Game Days with senior citizens at nursing home
  • Served food to homeless at Renaissance Place
  • Car Wash – proceeds went to St. Jude Children’s Hospital
  • Built picnic table for Optomist Club
  • Held food drive for Southside Mission
  • Planted Trees for Southside Mission
  • Prepared baked goods for BASE daycare in Morton
  • Prepared and sent get well cards for members on prayer list
  • Organized classes to make cards for overseas soldiers
  • Organized collection of items for Church Mouse
  • Organized food service and games for We Care
  • Helped assist with the organization of the Big Rake
  • Held a bake sale with proceeds going to South Side Mission
  • Held a Parents Night Out with proceeds going toward the purchase of school uniforms for students at Southside Mission

Additionally, 4 students – Abby Marks, Austin Dierks, Joey Jacob and Logan Monson helped on Making a Difference projects over and above their own. For the first year, this went well, and we look forward to continuing and growing this program.

The LED sign variance was approved by the Village of Morton Zoning Board.  The estimates for the sign came in at around $15,000.  The amount available through the memorial will be around $6,000, but thanks to our Foundation Board, we have enough money to cover the difference.

As summer is getting underway here, we are busy preparing for the coming school year.  Schedules are getting set, planning is being done and materials are being lined up.  Through it all, we are already excited about the 2010-2011 school year and thank you for your continued support.
