Principal: John Jacob (7th and 8th Grade) principal@bethellutheranschool.org Except for the two years that I taught at St. John’s Lutheran School in Monroeville, Indiana, I am a life-long Morton resident and member of Bethel Lutheran Church. I graduated from Concordia College in River Forest, Illinois in 1987 and after teaching in Indiana moved back home to work in the family business. I stayed at Foster-Jacob Inc. for 12 years then was called back into the teaching ministry. I started at Bethel Lutheran School in the fall of 2001 as a part-time computer instructor. Eventually I took on the duties of 6th, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies and Kindergarten – 8th grade PE. In the fall of 2004 I also took on the role of a part-time instructor of Computer Science at ICC. I accepted the position of principal in the fall of 2005. I have been blessed with a wonderful family. My wife Kim is a former Bethel Lutheran School secretary, and we have two boys, Andy and Joey. Andy will graduate from Bethel in May of 2006 and Joey will be entering the 5th grade in the fall of 2006.

I was born and raised in the Midwest living in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and California throughout my life. My family and I moved to Morton in 2003 when my husband accepted a call to pastor at Bethel Lutheran Church. I've enjoyed many aspects of education including teaching in preschool, elementary, and college classrooms. I enjoy reading, Bible study, playing trumpet, walking, running, being outdoors, gardening, scrap booking, attending my children's sporting events, and working on my home in my leisure time. My husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful children, Amy, Aleta in high school, and Mark at Bethel. I enjoy working as Vice Principal and 7th and 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Bethel Lutheran School in Morton, IL.
Kindergarten: Tammy Brown I was born in Morn's Minnesota. Most of my family still lives in Minnesota. I met my husband Scott at Concordia College in St. Paul, MN. I received my teaching degree in 1990 and have taught both Parochial and Public schools over the years. I have three sons; Jared, Hayden, and Micah. My hobbies are reading, gardening, and scrap booking.
Kindergarten: Sandy Elsas and in Public school. I grew up near Chicago and then attended Bradley University where I met my husband Ron. We have two married children, Ted and Sharon. Sharon has twin boys. I enjoy reading, cross-stitching, and singing. I am so grateful God has called me to service in ministry at Bethel.
First Grade: Sharon Rumbold I've been teaching for 31 years and I have had experience in public school, pre-school, and our parochial school. I'm originally from Rogers, AR and am the oldest of four sisters. I graduated from the University of Missouri, and went back to college at Concordia in Seward, NE to receive my colloquy in 1992. I am married to Ken, a farmer, and live in Sparland. I have two daughters, four step children, and together with Ken have nine grandchildren. My 45 minute drive to school each day allows me to indulge in books on tape. (I really like mysteries!)
Second Grade: Carol Stetzler I'm originally from Marengo, Illinois. I attended Northern Illinois University and taught in Mason City, Illinois where I met my husband Ken, I enjoyed teaching four-year olds at Bethel Lutheran preschool for many years and feel blessed to currently serve as second grade teacher. I have two children, Erin and Ryan. Ryan is a college student at Bradley, and Erin recently had a baby. In my free time I enjoy going to garage sales, reading, traveling, and spending time with my adorable grandson.
Third Grade: Janet Miller I graduated from Concordia Teacher's College in Seward Nebraska in 1981. I accepted calls to Zion Lutheran School in Rapid City, SD from 1981 to 1985. Faith Lutheran School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from 1985-1987, and Bethel Lutheran School in Morton, IL from 1987-1991. I was blessed with two daughters; Rachel in 1991 and Hannah in 1993. From 1994-2004 I worked as a first grade aide at Bethel and returned to teach in 2002.
Fourth Grade: Debbie Wyzard I was born in East Cleveland, Ohio. This is my 23rd year of teaching in the Lutheran School System. I taught 5 years in Springfield, IL, 3 years in Pompano Beach, FL, and this is my 15th year teaching 4th grade at Bethel Lutheran School. I attended Concordia University in River Forest, IL and graduated with a bachelor of Arts Degree. My husband Don and I have one daughter, Kristen, who is currently a sophomore at Concordia University. She is studying to become a Director of Christian Education. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Fifth Grade: Linda Moore I was born in St. Louis, MO, the youngest of four children. I grew up on a farm and always have been a Cardinal fan. I attended Lutheran grade school and graduated from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, NE in 1974. In 2003 I received my Master's degree in teaching and leadership from Xavier University. My teaching career has included pre-school through 8th grade in California and Illinois. I have been teaching a Bethel Lutheran grade school for 16 years. I am married to Michael and have three children. In my free time I enjoy reading, music, gardening, and babysitting my grandkids.
Sixth Grade: Kim Marks I was born and raised in East Peoria, IL. I have been blessed with a wonderful family; my husband Jason and two children, Jake and Abby. I graduated from Bradley University with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a minor in mathematics and Middle School. I have taught at Bethel School for five years.
Sixth Grade Social Studies/Literature: Michelle Bennett I was born and raised in Morton, IL. I received my Bachelors Degree from Bradley University in Elementary Education and my Masters Degree in Education in Reading from Illinois State University. My endorsements include: Jr. High Language Arts and Social Science; and Reading Teacher for Kindergarten to 4th grade. I have over 13 years experience in teaching elementary education. My teaching career has included K-6th grades in Florida and Illinois. I am a proud military wife. My husband, Bruce, is a C130 pilot for the IL Air National Guard. We have two wonderful children. My daughter, Addison, is in second grade and my son, Bryce, attends half-day kindergarten. Before resigning to be a stay at home mom, I taught 6th grade for 7 years at Grundy School. I am so excited to put my time, love, and energy in teaching part time at Bethel Lutheran School this year. I have been so blessed with this awesome opportunity!
Music Teacher: Berdie Remmele I am the music teacher at Bethel Lutheran School and am also the Music Coordinator for Bethel Lutheran Church. As a I enjoy kids and music, these are great ministry opportunities for me. My husband Paul and I have lived in Morton and have been members of Bethel since 1976. Our family is our greatest blessing. Karla and her husband Pat live in Concordia, MO. Michael and his wife Karen live near Morton. Angela and her husband Jason and their daughters Kaitlyn and Danielle live in Santa Ana, Costa Rica. Heather has her home base in Morton but is doing travel nursing around the United States. Our whole family enjoys camping, and being together. I enjoy reading and sewing.
