The Bethel Lutheran
School-Morton Varsity Cheerleaders and Varsity Boys Basketball Team both
qualified for Lutheran Schools Association State Tournament of Champions in
Arlington Heights March 03-05. The Lutheran Sports Association consists of 150
participating member schools. The cheerleaders placed 6th in the state. This
is the 3rd year that the cheerleaders have qualified for state competition and
finished in the top eight.
After just 4 years of having a
Jr. High varsity basketball team, the boys finished as state runner-up to
Rockford Lutheran in a 46-40 championship game. This was the first appearance at
state for the boys. The team defeated the #4 seed in the quarter finals and the
#1 seed Immanuel-Palatine in the semifinals by 13. The 2nd place finish
extended the team's season as the have been invited to participate in the
Lutheran Sports Association of America National Basketball Tournament of
Champions in Valparaiso, IN March 23-25. Dalton White and Cole Brunton both
were selected to the all tournament team. The team currently has a record of
33-6 and won the Central Illinois Lutheran Conference with an undefeated 7-0
record.
