In-person instruction for math, science, English/language arts, leadership, history and theology
We are blessed to have certified and experienced teachers on our staff to teach math, science, English/language arts, leadership, history and theology. Learn more about our BLHS staff HERE.
All core subjects taught from a faith-based perspective
BLHS uses the Bob Jones University Press (textbooks and video) and Ignitia (online) curricula. BLHS instructors teach face-to-face in the classroom the subjects for which they are certified and facilitate the classroom learning of Ignitia online courses taught by certified online Ignitia Christian instructors for courses outside of their disciplines. This allows Bethel to offer a wide variety of courses and electives.
Daily faith instruction
BLHS adopts an "apologetics" approach to daily faith instruction. Our students gain an awareness of community, local, and world issues and learn how to draw out the logical implications of the Christian worldview. Our goal is to help our students to see and contrast these concepts with other worldviews, allowing them to develop Biblical, faith-based responses. We help our students become Christian leaders through instruction and opportunities to serve and make a difference in Christ's name.
Career development, vocational training, and mentoring
Classes and surveys are offered to help students discover their unique gifts and abilities. Coaching and mentoring opportunities are keys to helping our students explore and discover meaningful career paths where their gifts and abilities can be utilized. In addition to preparation for higher education at the college/university level, students are exposed to a wide variety of trades through face-to-face and online elective instruction, so they have an awareness of all the opportunities available to them after graduation.
College credit earned during high school
BLHS partners with Illinois Central College to offer dual credit and college-level classes to our students so that they may acquire college credits while in high school. This allows BLHS to offer a path to earn an associate's degree along with a high school diploma for our interested students.
